What I Wore | New You

Pregnancy Style, Maternity Style, Jessica Quirk, @whatiworeWhatIWore: Now that I’ve shared my happy news, I feel so much more comfortable digging into the maternity pieces I’ve picked up over the past few weeks. Truth be told, my baby bump is still pretty tiny and I feel a little in limbo between looking pregnant and looking like I had a big burrito for lunch.

When: March 11, 2014

Where: Teaching, lunch date

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Northern Lights’
Lips: NARS ‘Scarlet Empress’
Q Scrabble Necklace: Heist Jewelry
Dress: Target
Jacket: MICHAEL Michael Kors via Nordstrom Rack (similar)
Bag: Coach ‘Mini Tanner Legacy’
Shoes: BCBG via DSW

Why: First things first, a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you who messaged/tweeted/emailed me yesterday! I felt so loved and happy reading all of your responses. It reminds me how wonderful it can be to connect online and I’m so grateful to have so much love coming in from near and far. You’re the best!

Now - my first pregnancy style post! I’m in love with this Target maternity dress that was under $30. Hopefully it will work throughout my second and third trimesters and even after I have the baby. I think it looks pretty cute with my new white leather jacket too! More on that coming soon!

I am SO excited to go bare legged today! I actually walked around barefoot in my yard for a while - it got up to 70 degrees! To keep things simple accessory wise, I went with my classic nude heels and a little Q scrabble charm necklace. Seems appropriate with Baby Quirk on the way!

UPDATE: After 70 and sunny on Tuesday, we had sideways snow on Wednesday. In like a lion, out like a lamb! Send us more pretty days, Mother Nature!

The Best Blog Post I've Ever Written

Jessica Quirk, PregnancyWhatIWore: When I was a little girl, I used to dream about what my adult life might be like. So many of my dreams have come true - from working in the fashion industry, living in NYC, to writing a book and falling in love with my soul mate. But there’s one thing that I’ve kept hoping and praying for ever since Adam and I were married. FInally, I’m glad to say my wish has been granted…

We’re expecting our first baby this summer! We could not be more thrilled with our happy news. You should see me typing this! I’ve got the biggest ear to ear grin and my eyes are welling up with tears. I’ve never been happier!

On a hunch and a day late, I decided to run to the store to grab a pregnancy test on Christmas Eve - and that’s when we found out! What a happy holiday!!

You may have noticed that along with a new job and the bitter winter weather, my first trimester stopped me from posting outfit photos at my normal rate. When they say you’ll be exhausted, it’s true! Now that I’m into my second trimester, I have a lot more energy so I hope to get back on track here to the best of my ability.

I’ll also be sharing some baby and pregnancy related posts from time to time, so if you’d prefer to only read about outfits, you can always book mark my ’Daily Outfits’ tab to filter what you see!

Over the years I’ve gotten to know a lot of you through emails, tweets and comments. Writing this blog post has been just as exciting as telling all of my off line friends in person. Thank you for sharing in my greatest joy!

WhatIWore: Although I have a couple of two piece bathing suits in my collection, I really love the sophistication of a one piece maillot (seen here, here & here). Luckily, this year’s crop of new suits are just that! I’ve hopped around online to find some of my favorite colors and cuts. If I had to pick today, I’d go with the blue print Nanette Lapore in the middle row (it comes in a two piece as well!) I bought one from her line last summer and the quality and fit were great.

What I Wore | Hello, Spring!

Neon Yellow, Spring, What I Wore | Hello, Spring!, @whatiworeWhatIWore: In honor of the sun shining and our awesome forecast for the next couple of days, I’m officially moving in my spring closet! I’ll still keep some transition pieces out (like this light gray wool coat), but pastels, neons and florals are calling my name! I finally went ahead and bought the J.Crew top I’m wearing today after thinking about it for a while (and actually went for something in the same color that was on sale instead of my original pick).  Pssst.
