WhatIWore: It's just about time for Bloomington to live up to its name. I’ve seen glimpses of daffodils popping up in sunny spots around my neighborhood and my guess is that within a week, we’ll be in full bloom. I love this time of year and I love getting dressed for spring. Easy layers, bright colors and stripes make me one happy girl.

Can you believe this striped lightweight coat is from Target? It quickly sold out at my local store but on an early Sunday morning, I saw someone had returned one in my size! Jackpot!
To balance the fuller silhouette I’m supporting on top, I’m balancing things out with dark super skinny jeans, which I’ve had for years. A good pair of denim goes such a long way. I always tell women it’s fine to have a pair of jeans in a size up and a size down stashed away in your closet (and I’m so glad I’ve kept this pair! Truthfully - they don’t button without the help of a rubber band, but hey - do whatchu’ve gotta do!)

My daily routine involves two bags - usually a small or colorful handbag and a larger carryall bag for my laptop, water bottle, teaching gear and computer cords. For a couple years I’ve using a black leather bag without much structure and I bet I could pull a receipt from 2012 out of there. It’s just one big inside section with two small pockets, doesn’t zip and is a general mess. So I’ve decided to both simplify and upgrade with a new everyday bag from Lo & Sons. I saw good reviews on some of my favorite lifestyle sites, so I browsed the options and went with the T.T. in army green. Part of my thinking was that if this ever became a sort of baby bag, Adam could carry it too and it would match all of his outfits (ha!). I also like the green because truthfully, I just don’t need another black tote bag. Bonus points for lightweight and easily wiped down nylon and style points for leather straps.
But what’s inside is best: there’s a padded pocket for my laptop and I can fit my large Nalgene bottle, a pair of pumps, my drawing supplies and a sketch book inside. Plus there are two large outside pockets that work for folders (for teaching) or magazines. One of those pockets unzips at the bottom which makes it easy to slide over a rolling carry on for travel.
I’ve been trying it out for the past week to give it a fair review and I seriously love the huge amount of space in such a slim and streamlined looking bag. I also had a little idea planted in the back of my mind that I saw on Pinterest - big bags balance out big baby bumps. We’ll see!

So one other thing before I go… I’m crazy in love with my new pants that I finished up over the weekend! The pattern was super easy (Vogue V8909, view B) and the project probably took less than 3 hours from start to finish (I skipped pockets and the elastic through all of the casings at the hem and waistline took the majority of the time.)
