What I Wore | Where the Sidewalk Ends

Orange is the new Black, Orange, ASOS, Maternity Style, 31 weeks, Jessica Quirk, @whatiwore

WhatIWore: I was thisclose to calling this post Orange is the New Black, but I’m a firm believer that nothing is the new black. Black is the only black. (On a side note, love the show, zipped through S2 in a week!) See one of my other favorite orange outfits HERE. Also of note, I have my dress on backwards! By accident!

When: July 2, 2014

What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Lipstick: Ilya in Wild Child
Necklace: Jess Lively (similar here)
Dress: ASOS maternity
Belt: UNIQLO (old)
Shoes: Sole Society

Where: Bloggin from the coffee shop, errands

I didn’t realize it was on the wrong way until I looked up the link for it. I know I said a couple of weeks I was winding down on the maternity shopping, but I truly was wearing black knit maxi dresses every day and wanted a couple pops of print and color to get me through the next two months. I love that this dress looks a little thrifted… it’s kind of ugly but at the same time, so pretty too! Unfortunately I don’t seem to have luck with thrifting knit dresses because the texture of the fabric gets pretty nasty after dozens of washings but let’s just pretend I scored this dress on $1 Tuesday (or buy it on sale for yourself here).

Next time I’ll definitely flip it around. The higher neckline has more of a vintage vibe and I think it would look really cute with Heidi braids on a warm day!

What I Wore | Back to Basics

Maternity Hack, #dressthebump, 31 weeks pregnant, third trimester outfit, @whatiwore

WhatIWore: I always feel like I’ve had a minor victory when I wear an outfit that's not maternity.  This was the first chambray I ever bought and I’m wearing it loosely knotted over a knit skirt hiked way up and a black sports bra. Yes, my bra is showing. Nope, I don’t care! It’s pretty basic but a nice way to wear the new casual purse I picked up at a boutique in Asheville on vacation.

When: July 1, 2014

What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Lipstick: Ilya in Wild Child
Necklace: Jess LC
Chambray: Lucky Brand men’s (similar, on sale $34)
Skirt: Target (similar)
Sandals: SoleSociety
Bag: Minx (Asheville)

See Also: Another cute way to wear a faded chambray.

Where: Breakfast, Work Session at my favorite neighborhood spot - Elm Heights Bloomingfoods

It kind of reminds me of one of my first ever purses, a similar drawstring shape, made out of textured woven fabric, which probably cost $12 from the Earth Awakenings store (can’t remember the real name, but they sold crystals and hemp necklaces to give you the drift).  I clearly remember what I crammed into it too. A full size bottle of peach lotion from the Body Shop and a small jar of cherry lip balm. That’s it. And I’m pretty sure I was only 10 or 11 when I got onto the kick of carrying it and I absolutely did not need lotion or lip balm to run around my friend’s backyard. So, in a round about way, this drawstring bag reminds me of that one and its good to get a little nostalgic once and a while.

Also! Thirty one weeks pregnant! Woo!!

A couple years ago I made these fun stars and stripe shorts and although they don’t fit right now, I’m inspired by patriotic casual style (if you’d like some red, white & blue office ideas, click here).

Third Trimester Style, Third Trimester, 30 weeks, Summer Maxi, Pregnancy Style, #dressthebump, @whatiwore

WhatIWore: I’m really loving summer this year, spending my days working at coffee shops, hitting the pool and taking dreamy long third trimester naps in the AC. Although my schedule has changed and I’m no longer renting space at my old coop studio, I still like to get up and get dressed and get out of the house each day. I wore this a few times during vacation but never snapped photos, so I also threw it on Monday morning to run errands around town. It’s a cheapie from Nordstrom Rack and not maternity, but that elastic bodice makes it really comfortable! I think I’ll also try it as a skirt with a striped or white top for a cooler evening this summer!

When: June 23, 2014

What:
Shades: Cactus Flower (older style from a Bloomington boutique)
Dress: Angie via Nordstrom Rack
Cross Body Bag: Coach
Sandals: TOMS

Where: Errands ‘round town

Also, I’ve gotta say, the photo above has to be one of my favorite shots Adam’s taken of me since I’ve been pregnant. Like I’ve mentioned in the past, I have my good days and not-so-good days, but I really like this point in pregnancy. My baby moves all the time (even when I’m walking!) and I’m really cherishing the moment. I’m more comfortable with my pregnant body (so much so that I wore a two piece to the public pool this week) and I finally feel like I’ve gotten to a good place emotionally. I’m being careful not to wish away the summer, but I’m also eagerly awaiting the day I’ll become a mother! A little over two months to go!
