Ways to Wear |Yellow Floral Skirt

ways to wear a yellow skirt, modcloth yellow skirt

WhatIWore: Although my wardrobe has been skewing towards neutrals lately, I have been wearing my yellow floral skirt (see here and here) a lot and the possibilities seem to be endless. After asking for your thoughts I also got on Pinterest to get some visuals and the way these ladies styled theirs gave me major inspiration! See my entire board of ideas on how to wear yellow skirts this summer here and stay tuned for how I recently wore it coming up later this morning!

WhatIWore: Yesterday really felt like summer break to me. Felix and I started the day with a coffee date with my friend Chelsea and then over to Nurse and Chat and checking out a new grocery in town, Lucky’s (errr… this is what I get excited about these days… but it was awesome! I will be back!).

This tee is actually from the boy’s section, which is kind of cute for the mom of a little boy, right? He’s been such a sweetheart lately and now that he’s moving and grooving (and crawling 60 mph!) we’ve been busy! I can’t believe I’m the mom of a 9 month old. Each stage I keep thinking this is the best stage*, but it just keeps getting better.

When: May 27, 2015

What:
Shades: Karen Walker, Super Duper
Tee: J.Crew boys (similar options here)
Skirt: Modcloth (old, but cute option here (I have this one too!)

Where: Coffee Date, Nurse and Chat

See Also: Other ways I’ve wore this tee and skirt.

*Minus the newborn stage. That was the hardest three months of my life. I did not love that part.

WhatIWore: Here’s what I wore on a chilly day last week to take Felix to the library. In typical rookie mom style, I showed up on the Toddler Tunes week instead of whatever makes that different from the baby class. We played around for an hour anyway and I think he had a good time! It’s always fun for babies to interact with other kids.

In The Kitchen | Key Lime Pie

I love baking and I especially love making pies (see my #Jessicas100pies on Instagram to view past pies!) I usually go with a flakey crust and custard filling, but for Adam’s birthday weekend, I decided to make his favorite - Key Lime Pie. The recipes I used were so easy and the result was tangy, sweet and silky. If you’re a newbie to pie making, I bet you could tackle this recipe!

Graham Cracker Crust (original recipe here)

- 1 ½ C graham crackers

- 1/3 C sugar

- 6 T melted butter

Start by tossing your graham crackers into the food processor and get them pretty well crumbled. Add sugar. Slowly add melted butter until the mixture clumps up a bit. Transfer to 9″ glass pie dish and evenly press to bottom and sides. Using glass will help you hold the dish up to the light and see if you have any holes!

Bake for 7 minutes at 375. Let cool completely before filling.

Key Lime Filling (original recipe here)

- 3 14oz cans of sweetened condensed milk

- ¾ C key lime juice

- ½ C sour cream

- 1 T freshly grated lime zest (about one lime)

Combine all ingredients and transfer to cooled graham cracker crust. I like for a little bit of the crust to show around the edges, so if you’ve used a smaller pie dish, you might have a little filling left over. Bake for 6 minutes at 350. Watch closely! Don’t let your pretty pie get brown.

Let your pie cool on the counter and transfer to the fridge once at room temperate. To garnish, slice a lime with your mandoline (be careful!) and layer over the top of the pie. To serve, slice and add a dollop of freshly whipped cream (heavy whipping cream with a little sugar and dash of vanilla).
