WhatIWore: Last weekend I did something really fun - I went to a tea party! My friend Ashley had some gals over and pulled out her grandmother’s china so we could sip fancy tea, eat cucumber sandwiches and scones and hang out on a Sunday afternoon. Adam had Felix at home, so I wore something that I normally wouldn’t get a wear - a vintage dress! (It’s not nursing friendly, hence why it doesn’t get much attention these days).

When: June 14, 2015

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Dress: Vintage (found at Savant Vintage in Nashville)
Bag: Lancel
Sandals: not sure!

Where: Tea Party with friends

See Also: How I wore this dress shortly after I bought it a few summers ago.

WhatIWore: All compliments are good compliments, but my favorite two are “is that vintage?!” and “did you make that?!” In this outfit, yes and no. When Adam was taking photos this morning he told me “You look really… hip! I like your glasses! Is that top vintage?”  The shirt is actually new, but has a vintage looking print (and kind of reminds me of either an old couch/curtains or this dress) and the skirt is an oldie but goodie vintage/thrifted number I’ve had for years (evidence here, here, here & here).  I initially thought I’d style the top untucked with it seems like this blouse and skirt combo were meant to be! Complementary, darling!

When: June 15, 2015

What:
Shades: Andy Warhol Museum, old
Blouse: ModCloth
Skirt: Vintage, similar style (would work with this top!)
Bracelet: Self Made, DIY here
Bag: Lancel
Sandals: Rockport, gift

Where: Grocery and Coffee Shop

When I bought this top, I thought it looked so Jackie O on a boat and I knew right away I’d pair it with these sunglasses, which are named after the first lady and style icon. Right now I’m into BIIIIIGGG shades. The bigger the better!!!

WhatIWore: The other day I was out running errands and my son fell asleep in his carseat and one turn becomes another and all of a sudden I’m in the parking lot by the craft store. How often does this happen? Too often (replace craft store with Target and the answer is every week). Anyway, I’ve been wanting to make a flower crown forever and I finally got around to it!

When: June 13, 2015

What:
Flower Crown: Self made
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’ in Crazy Tort
Dress: ASOS (worn backwards)
Belt: Vintage
Shoes: Clarks, gift

Where: Out to dinner at FARMbloomington with my son and husband

I actually made two crowns and this was my third attempt at this color story. I’ll be honest - I love how beautifully it turned out, but I was a little nervous about wearing it out! Then I remembered I live in a town that’s really accepting and celebrates being yourself so I just went for it. I’m happy I did because I felt so pretty - which is how you should always feel (if you’re going for pretty!) The point - wear clothes (or flower crowns!) that make you feel like the best version of yourself on any given day. You don’t always have to dress preppy or bohemian or norm core. Life is too short to worry about what strangers think of you!

As far as what to wear with the crown (my starting point for this outfit!) I knew I wanted something on the soft side and I remembered a dress that I first wore last fall. This time, I turned it around to make it nursing friendly and gave it a belt because it’s gotten a little big. It looks like something you could find in a vintage store (if you’re really really lucky!) I just LOVED wearing this and how the photos all came out - especially the shots with Felix. I was hoping to do a maternity shoot with flowers in my hair, but these are even sweeter!

WhatIWore: I’ve been in a rut lately! Whenever it takes me more than 5 minutes to get dressed I get frustrated and resort to the same basic outfits. Last night I took a little time to browse through Pinterest and yay! I have ideas again! This time I got inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Naomi Davis of Love Taza. She has such a knack for looking stylish, quirky and fun. She mixes indie designers, vintage, bold lipstick and funky sunglasses. And her hair! She has so many enviable ‘dos too! It doesn’t hurt that she seems like such a great girl - someone I’d love to be friends with in real life!

For today’s outfit I pulled out a rainbow bright skirt I haven’t worn in a long time and it made me so happy! I did a little side braid and bright lips and I feel really awesome! You never know where you’ll find ideas for a new look! Have a great weekend! Excla mation points!!!!!
