What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: In another never say never moment, today I’m wearing palazzo pants! I actually bought these in the spring of last year when I was pregnant, somehow thinking they’d be good with a huge belly. They never fit under it quite right (and looked hilarious pulled over top) so this is the first time I’m wearing them in outfit photos. I wore them last night too and didn’t think I’d have pics to share, but my friend said she’d better see ‘em on the blog, so other Jess, here you go.

When: July 20, 2015

What:
Hat: Self Made by me!
Shades: Prada, thrifted (story here)
Crop Top: ModCloth
Palazzo Pants: Zara, last year
Bag: Coach
Sandals: Target

Where: Drinks and Dinner last night, breakfast date and grocery today

See Also: This crop top with two different skirts

In keeping with my promise to give myself body positive compliments, today I really like how my hair lays under my hat. The angle of the cut looks cool with the off set brim and it shows off my tattoo nicely too! What do you love about yourself today?

What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: This weekend something awesome happened - a huge wave of inspiration hit me and I’m currently obsessed with all things seventies. A lot of times people go to just bell bottoms or disco when they think of the seventies, but a lot can happen with fashion in a decade. This look is probably more on the tail end - maybe 78 or 79. The vintage skirt actually is from the seventies too!

When: July 20, 2015

What:
Shades: Oldies
Tee: J.Crew (sold out, but more stripes here)
Belt: Vintage
Skirt: Vintage, Cherry Canary Vintage
Bag: Boutique in Hong Kong (old)
Wedges: House of Harlow (old)

See Also: This striped tee with a yellow printed skirt (probably my favorite outfit this summer) and with a short black skirt and hat

So here’s something I’m working on these days - being more body positive. I’ll put it out there - I’m not a fan of my nursing bosom and I often feel very self conscious about these ginormous jugs (I went up 3 sizes after having my son). To counter those feelings (which I think all women have regarding some part of their bodies), I’m going to start highlighting something nice with each set of photos.

Today I like the way my legs look with this full skirt and high wedges! Now… you go look in the mirror and say something nice to yourself!

WhatIWore: Hello heatwave! It’s been so hot here lately that we’ve been doing most of our outside time in the morning or evening (or at the pool). This is what I wore out to breakfast with my boys last week. I ditched the jeans for shorts by mid day, but felt crisp and cool at 9 am.

What:
Shades: Karen Walkers
Tank: Old Navy, via giftcard
Jeans: J.Crew (I ripped ‘em)
Bag: Milly
Shoes: Clark’s gift

Where: Breakfast at the Village Deli

Heads up! This post was brought to you by Old Navy! Thank you for supporting the brands that make What I Wore possible!

What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: I’d like to make believe there’s a time when I’ll be able to wear anything I want without fear of being judged or mocked for doing something that makes me happy. I wish I could say I stand behind every single outfit on this blog and that I always feel like a million bucks, but honestly, my self esteem has been wavering lately and I feel like I’m in a little bit of a summer slump. I threw on this dress because it normally makes me happy and added a new flower crown on the way out the door, but then I couldn’t find my favorite sunglasses and I felt kind of… naked (!) without them in these photos. Then I took off the flower crown as I started walking through the neighborhood. I wish I had the courage to do whatever I wanted, but sometimes, I just fall short. I almost didn’t edit or post these pics, but I think they’re a nice way to open up a discussion about how we feel about ourselves.

I’m hoping to disconnect this weekend, spend time with my husband and son, go out with friends and just be without having to worry about outfit photos or looking a certain way (or fitting in or sticking out!) I hope you let this weekend be a chance for you to be a little more of your true self too. Have a good one friends.
