Karen Walker Super Duper in Black  Buffalo Check Scarf  Army Green Jacket

WhatIWore: When I think woodsy, I think of a red and black buffalo check. I recently bought this scarf and I think it looks cute with a matching smaller check in the button down. I also like the way this whole top half of the outfit works with the boots. It’s like casual country girl and chic city woman all mixed up. I think? Anyway, I wore this on some errands with Felix the other day and I felt the perfect mix of comfortable and cute.

WhatIWore: I wasn’t really sure of this outfit when I stepped out the door, but looking at it now - I like it! Weirdly I think what makes it work is how I did my bangs off to the side a bit. Looks a little parisienne, non?

This is the sweater I blogged about a couple of weeks ago. Ever the perfectionist (I’m working on lightening up, promise), I went back and ripped out the hem so I could fix how I binded off (in a rib pattern to provide more stretch). I opted to leave the sleeves intact but to wet them and pop the entire sweater in the dryer. I actually think I could probably try that again with a little higher heat and let it shrink up even more. That said, the fit is still nice if not a little roomy in some places (sleeves, neckline), but that’s alright with me.

WhatIWore: This weekend we took Felix to his first football game and it was Homecoming! Earlier in the week I went out looking for a little IU jacket, but even little sweatshirts were $30, so I skipped it and just put him in a cream sweater he already had and added on an IU pin from my jewelry box. Paired with a red plaid shirt (like his daddy!) and a cream and crimson striped hat, we were all ready to go!

We went into the game for the first quarter and Felix totally loved it! He’s really into clapping and when the crowd would cheer, he’d get excited and echo whatever he heard. My little Hoosier!!

WhatIWore: I have the personality type that can get really excited. So excited that I jump up and down and say outloud “I’m so excited!!!!” over and over again. Like a kiddo at Christmas. That’s how I felt this weekend! Indiana’s homecoming was this weekend and although we lost the game, had a really fun time walking through campus and tailgating with friends (photos to come!).

This is what I wore for the game. When you live in a college town, are an alum and have a major love for IU sports, you’ll rack up a lot of team apparel. This time, I wanted to do something a little different and go for an old school sort of IU outfit. Adam gave me this vintage IU tamoshanter he found online a couple Christmases ago and I recently added this bright red fair isle sweater to my wardrobe. I love how they look together. And for those of you with eagle eyes (I don’t know if you can really see it!), I even wore my Delta Gamma anchor pin (ITB, y’all!) To finish it all off, wearing my favorite bright red lipstick!

When: October 17, 2015

What:
Hat: Vintage
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Sweater: Lands’ End
Anchor Pin: from my old sorority days at DG
Jeans: J.Crew
Boots: Ariat (gift)

For my original outfit, I had on a different pair of black boots, but when push comes to shove, I decided to wear flat boots. We walked a couple miles to and from the stadium and stood for most of the time we were there. Heels are cute, but there’s a time and place for everything, ya know?

Also! For any IU students who are interested, I’ll be giving a talk this Wednesday evening on campus on how to transition your wardrobe from college to career as a part of the Life After IU series. More info here!
