What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: True fact: I don’t like doing outfit photos when it’s gloomy out. I used to snap photos in almost every kind of weather, but lately I’ve only wanted to get out when it’s sunny. On days when it’s not as nice, photos just don’t seem to look as good and honestly, I put in less effort with my outfits when it’s raining.  Also my son has been sleeping terribly the past week (teething + growth spurt?) so I’m just relying on simple outfits (everything else on the site this week was captured last week). It wasn’t storming Tuesday morning, so we snapped these pictures, and they’re a good idea of what I wear when I’m not in the mood to get all done up! A white tee (loving the linen blend) + jeans + jacket. I’ve posted similar uniform style outfits in the past and they’re pretty similar to this one!

WhatIWore: Lately I’ve been inspired to push my limits with what I wear. Not for the sake of being trendy, but because new shapes and silhouettes are resonating with me and I don’t want to be too scared to try them (like this looser peplum style or cropped wide leg jeans or funky sleeves)! One thing I’ve stayed away from for a good portion of my WIW life is anything that doesn’t have a tight waist nipping silhouette. I really like this top and the flares are a nice way to balance out the volume of the bigger peplum. This top is also the perfect vehicle for a funky wood and metal necklace that I want to wear with everything these days.

WhatIWore: Do these jeans look familiar? They’re the other pair of Point Sur denim that I was debating on getting (and asked your advice on!) They went on sale and I had a bit of play money for the month, so I got ‘em. I’m so glad I did! I love how different they are from what’s in my current closet. Sometimes a fresh silhouette can really spark inspiration for me. And not like Jessica-as-70s-mommy is a new look for me, but I usually feel more bohemian in with my fall wardrobe versus spring.  My top is also new and it’s from Target. For reference I sized down to an extra small because although I like flowy tops these days, I don’t want to be swimming in them. The belt is Target too!

In addition to all of the jeans I’ve been wearing lately, I’m really into variations on a white shirt. I made that eyelet one, there’s my creamish colored eyelet from a few years ago, and I have a few others in line to be worn.

What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: I’ve really embraced more tee shirt and jeans (or skirt!) outfits versus dresses since Felix was born. Around this time last year, I wrote about what I call ‘playground tees’ - easy options for a cute casual outfit (see examples here, here & here). I also appreciate that tee shirts aren’t a not a big investment but can spark a little inspiration for your wardrobe. Although I have lots of stripe tees, what’s another one? They’re what I like to wear!

I really like this outfit! In the past I might have worn it with nude heels, but I love the ease and walkability of Birkenstocks. Plus you could easily swap out the skirt for a pair of cropped jeans for another cute outfit idea.

Old Navy (today’s post sponsor!) is having a huge sale on their tees (which they’ve recently updated in fabrics (like linen blends!) and silhouettes (fitted, relaxed and boyfriend styles). I went with the relaxed style, which isn’t too big and isn’t too tight. I’m wearing a small here for reference! Create your own #neverbasic look with tees that are 50% off online (until May 10th or buy one, get one free in store until May 10th).

Heads Up! Today’s post has been sponsored by my long time partners, Old Navy. Thanks for supporting the brands that make What I Wore possible!
