Nordstrom Sale Spotlight | Closet Classics

image

Some pieces in your closet get a lot more wear and tear than others, like hangbags, jeans and boots. I always recommend buying the best quality you can afford in these categories, so I’ve found pieces at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale that are very similar to my most loved classics and at great prices! Click above on any image or in the copy below!

Black Leather Handbags - I LOVE my little black Coach cross body (similar here) - it’s one of my most used handbags (see photo here). It’s big enough for a wallet, phone plus a diaper and some wipes (i’ve never been big into diaper bags). If vegan styles are more your thing, they’re are a lot of amazing styles for sale too. Black is great to wear with everything, but if you’ve got that covered, many styles are offered in other colors as well!

Denim - I’ve found great jeans at all price points, but if you’ve been saving for premium denim, now is the time to grab a pair. I’ve tried to pick pairs that are still available in multiple sizes, but they are going fast! Click any image above to shop the specific style.

Booties - I’ve been a big fan of booties in the past couple of seasons - I think they look great with skinny jeans, under flares or with a skirt or dress. All of these pairs are under $200 (most under $100).

WhatIWore: I’m mellllttting! It has been really hot and humid here lately. A heat dome? It’s pretty tough to be outside for an extended period of time unless you get out early in the day. My inlaws were in town yesterday to have lunch and then play with Felix so Adam and I could get out. And what’s the perfect thing to do when it feels like 102 degrees out? Go bowling!! I had so much fun, but to put it nicely, I could use some practice.

When: July 24, 2016

What
Shades: Prada (found mine for $30 at a consignment store!)
Dress: Old Navy (via gift card last spring)
Backpack: gift of Vera Bradley a couple years ago
Sandals: gift of Clark’s from last summer

Where: Lunch at Farm, and later bowling!

I always find it most challenging to get dressed at the end of a season when you’re tired of your summer things, but it’s brutally hot outside. I was looking at the latest J.Crew new arrivals and saw a cute striped outfit combining different stripes on different pieces. I initially tied another striped shirt around my waist to get the same effect, but it cut up the silhouette more than adding to it. Oh well! At least stripes look great all year round!

A What I Wore Make Under!

Ta da! Welcome to the new layout and design of What I Wore. Armed only with patience and a sleeping toddler, I designed and coded the new site all by myself! Each time I attempt to learn more about CSS I feel more confident and I’m surprised by how much I like doing it! But enough about that… here’s what’s changed and what’s stayed the same.

You’ll notice things are clean and simple around here. I want you to get to the content you want and make it easy! I’m going to eliminate page breaks in my daily outfit posts and only use them on longer form essays. I like the old school blog format where you just scroll through a page versus having 20 articles to choose from or worse yet - only one post per page!

I’ve decided to eliminate banner ads for the time being as well. I can’t control the look and feel of them (unless a specific campaign comes up) and honestly - they can be distracting from the rest of the content. Instead, I’ll be displaying customized widgets of what I’m shopping for myself at the moment (like the boots section between the first and second post!)

My menu bar has remained the same, and I’ve been working on my galleries to make sure every image is clickable and can take you directly to the outfit post you want. If you haven’t checked it out, this is a good way to see a lot of outfits at once! As always, if you’re only interested in seeing outfit photos, please update your bookmark to the Daily Outfits tab.

I’ve been testing the new design on Chrome and Sarfari, which account for over 75% of my readers and working to make IE and Firefox just as pretty! If you see a kink or notice a problem, please let me know and I will tinker away to fix it!

I hope you like the new, more simple version of What I Wore!

Nordstrom Sale Spotlight | Leather Moto Jackets

image

While browsing through the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (open access starts today!) to narrow down what I might buy this season (decided on this style of over-the-knee boot), I noticed so many leather moto jackets.

I bought my first one in 2010 and they’re so versatile in my closet (see 30 ways here). They look awesome with chiffon dresses or easy going over a white tee and jeans on a Friday night. Plus they’re all on sale now instead of January, so you can get a good price and a lot of use this fall and winter. Don’t get me wrong - they’re still a sizable investment piece, but with discounts like these your budget will go further!

Above - my favorites! Click on any image to see details!  (for even more, click here and select ‘leather’ to see all of the options)!
