What I Wore | Reality Show

WhatIWore: This outfit is really nothing to write home about, but I’m posting it anyway. Why? Because this kind of dress and sweater combo is my reality. Yea, I wore the dress last week and I like it, so I’m wearing it again! I’ve been a little disenchanted with the blogging world lately with all of it’s perfection. The outfits have become astronimically expensive and disposable. I don’t have the budget or desire to wear things once. Sure, I have a dozen designer pieces I’ve invested in, but I’ll wear the same $25 dress on repeat too. So I guess what I’m saying is that not every post you see on this blog is going to be shopable or groundbreaking but that’s not my goal. It’s just about sharing what I’m wearing as I push my stroller through my sweet little town, teach class or go out on the town. My own little real reality show.

WhatIWore: How about something a little different today? Adam told me i look very french in this outfit and whether or not that’s true, I like how easily it came together. Not like anyone is counting, but this is one of the many navy and white striped shirts I have in my closet because truthfully, I feel ok wearing one every day! I’m really embracing what I like these days and if that means the same thing over and over, that’s fine with me! Stripes! Olive green jackets! Circle skirts! The same two pair of jeans! Bring it on

MoM | DIY Baby Leggings

WhatIWore: I never would have believed that dressing a baby boy could be so much fun! I love picking out different onesies and hoodies and socks and leggings when I get him dressed each day, often coordinating with my own outfit. I’ve bought him a couple of pairs of baby leggings and realized I could easily whip up a pair myself using women’s knee socks as the fabric! Here’s how I made these simple leggings in under a half hour:

Supplies:

  • Women’s Knee Socks
  • Scissors
  • 1/2″ Elastic (about 10″)
  • Needle and Thread (I used my sewing machine)

To start, cut the tubular portion of the sock from the foot, at around the ankle.

Next, turn the sock inside out and pin under 5/8″ to create a casing.

Stitch along edge, leaving a 1″ space unstitch to allow room to thread in your elastic. Be careful not to stitch through the back side of your

Cut elastic roughly the same size as your opening. You’ll want it to be just slightly smaller than the fabric opening, but not too tight for your baby’s comfort.

Thread elastic through casing using a safety pin.

Stitch elastic ends closed. I went back over this stitch line three times just so it’s extra sturdy!

Stitch closed remaining portion of casing and turn inside out!

The top of your sock will also be the top of the legging, so you’ll only need to put elastic into the bottom area that you’ve cut. That’s it! With so many novelty patterns think of all the possibilities!

WhatIWore: A lot of the dresses I make for myself are inspired by the real deal beauties like this one - a 1950s full circle skirted halter dress. i actually bought this last year when I was pregnant but knew (hoped?) that it would fit some day in the future. My thing this spring seems to be layering retro silhouettes (natural waist, full skirts) with modern jackets. I love the combination!
