What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: Ok guys, this is going to be a lot less about the outfit shown here and a lot more about where I’m at in my head these days as it relates to clothes. I’m in a rut. A slump. A state of blah blah blah. The heat has killed my inspiration and I’m just not feeling getting dressed up that much right now! I think a closet change over this weekend might spark some ideas. And the hard thing right now is that I need to be honest with myself about what really works for being a mom and is that something worth blogging. Many days, it’s not. (continued…)

When: September 10, 2015

What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’ in Crazy Tort
Necklace: old, can’t remember
Shirt: American Eagle (similar here)
Jeans: Frame Denim
Bag: Frye
Booties: Frye ‘Patty’ (last year)

Where: Coffee Shop computer session

See Also: More ways I’ve worn these jeans.

In the meantime, I’m on the fence about whether to throw in the (temporary) towel or keep blogging the outfits that get no comments or pins or likes. I don’t want that to sound like a pity party or call for any of the above, but it’s the truth of the blogging world. Stay new or say goodbye. It’s kinda nice to know there are average people out there (what I think I’m aiming at), but that’s not aspirational and that doesn’t really get anyone talking.  I’m ok with that… I think. I’m actually not sure. So I’m going to temporarily press pause, regroup and see how I feel about fall and where I want to take What I Wore.

WhatIWore: When Adam and I travel, it’s all about food, and our trip to Nashville was built around it! This is what I wore to our anniversary dinner on Saturday night. I was originally hoping to find a white dress to wear but ended up ordering no less than three different styles that I ended up sending back. The black worked perfectly though and I’ll be able to wear it a lot more than white! I I felt like such a babe!

What I Wore on Instagram

WhatIWore: Happy Tuesday everyone! I’m just getting back into the swing of things after a weekend in Nashville (photos to come!) In a bit of a sleep deprived haze I had no idea what to wear this morning until I came back to my inspiration board from last week (and a pile of freshly washed striped tees). French chic = easy chic, so that’s a simple win for me.

If you’re in the midst of a heat wave like me you probably also feel sick of this hot weather and ready to break out your fall clothes. I just don’t want to wear summer stuff for that much longer. The good thing about pieces like a little black skirt and striped tee is that they work just as well for fall as they do warmer weather so I don’t feel too out of season. I know that’s a little convoluted, but whatever. Labor Day may have come and gone, but techinically it’s still summer!

French Casual, French Style, Breton Sweater

WhatIWore: As I knit away on my breton inspired sweater, I can’t help but think about casual French style and how I might wear it once complete (see my Pinterest board HERE. With my haircut and bangs, that leads me to a sort of early 70s Jane Birkin kind of feeling. I’m digging trenches with silk scarves and messy bedhead - a different twist on the sort of full skirt and red lip Paris inspiration I’ve used in the past. Right now I imagine it with my high waisted dark flares, a red silk scarf and my navy peacoat. Or maybe with a little navy skirt and ankle boots? Layered with a chambray and skinny black jeans?

What do you think? I’d love to hear your suggestions! Help me brainstorm ideas on my facebook page!
